What is “KPop Demon Hunters”?
“KPop Demon Hunters” is an animated film directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans that was released on Netflix in June. The movie, about a pop girl group called HUNTR/X fighting demons, was a big hit.
According to a Netflix news release, the film received over 325 million views worldwide in 91 days, making it the most popular film in Netflix history.
The song “Golden” by the film’s lead trio, HUNTR/X, became the longest No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 by a 21st century girl group. Other songs featured in the film, including “Your Idol” and “Soda Pop” by the film’s antagonists, Saja Boyz, also topped the Billboard 100 in July and August.
