Maryland governor hits back at Potomac
Maryland Governor Wes Moore sent a message to President Donald Trump: “Get to work” after a sewer pipe collapse spilled sewage into the Potomac River.
President Trump blamed Moore and other Democrats for the spill that contaminated a river that runs through Washington, D.C., and near the White House. In a series of inflammatory social media posts, President Trump removed Moore from a bipartisan event gathering the nation’s governors.
In an exclusive interview with USA TODAY, Maryland’s governor fired back by claiming the damage was in a DC line on federal land.
“I have no idea how Maryland could get into this. It’s just a very creative fact announced by the president of the United States,” Moore told USA TODAY.

sadness and gold
As much as she feared it, Mikaela Shiffrin wanted to win gold in the Olympic women’s slalom on Wednesday. She has fought this feeling every day since her father passed away in 2020. After crossing the finish line with a 1.50-second lead over the next closest skier, she lowered her chest to her knees and rested her head on them, a move that will last forever in this sport.
health and wellness
She won her endometriosis discrimination lawsuit.
In 2025, Christian “CeeCe” Worley became the first North Carolina judge to win a lawsuit that recognized endometriosis, an inflammatory disease in which tissue similar to the endometrium grows outside the uterus, as a disability under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Worley, 27, defended himself in court. The verdict surprised everyone.
