According to a CNN report, White House press secretary Caroline Levitt claimed that President Trump’s bruises were caused by the president hitting the corner of a table during the signing of the peace commission.
USA TODAY has reached out to the White House for comment.
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal in early January, President Trump mentioned that he had mysterious bruises on his hands, saying that he bruises easily because he takes large amounts of aspirin every day.
The president told the outlet that he was taking 325 milligrams of aspirin a day for “cardiac prophylaxis,” more than his doctor recommended. According to the Mayo Clinic, the most common low-dose aspirin is 81 milligrams.
President Trump previously said, “They say aspirin is good for thinning the blood, but I don’t want thick blood going into the heart.” “I want thin, good blood flowing through my heart. Does that make sense?”
