A rural community in southern Pennsylvania lamented the deaths of three law enforcement officers on September 18 after a shooting occurred during a domestic investigation a day ago.

Authorities are expected to provide more information about the shooting standoff that killed three officers and left two others injured at a press conference later that day. The suspect was also killed by police at the scene on September 17th. Neither the victim nor the suspected shooter have been identified.

The day before the shooting, authorities responded to the same home where the shooting broke out in reports of a stalking, according to records obtained by York Daily Record, part of the USA Today Network.

The shooting broke out in North Codra Township. Codra Township sits in York County, Pennsylvania, with a population of just over 9,000 people. On the evening of September 17th, police and emergency vehicles escorted the bodies of fallen officers to the county coroner’s office as hundreds lined up on the streets to pay their respects, York daily records reported. A new all night is planned for the evening of September 18th at a church in Springgrove, next door to Pennsylvania.

“These officers represent our best. They put their lives on the line to serve their communities, their federations and their nation,” said Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro. “On this devastating day, the prayers of 13 million Pennsylvanians will be with the victims, their families and the good people of York County.

Records reveal a stalker report of a man seen at a York County home

The day before the shooting, officers responded to the same home where the shooting took place to report a suspected stalker. They accused a Hanover man of misdemeanor stalkers, wandering overnight and trespassing in a summary crime, according to records obtained on the York Daily Records.

In an affidavit of possible causes, the officer wrote that he was called to his home in the 1800 block of Hurl Road, North Colt Township, around 11:24pm on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. The officers were unable to find the day that day, the records stated.

Investigators spoke to the resident’s daughter. He told them on August 20, 2025 that someone burned her pickup truck while sitting in the driveway of the house. She said she believes her ex-boyfriend did it and identified footage from the property’s trail camera as the same guy who was at home on September 16th.

In an affidavit, the officer said in an image taken on the night of September 16th that the man “was an AR-15-style rifle on his chest while looking at the residence.”
