Another round of cucumber has been recalled following the outbreak of salmonella, which has made 26 people sick in 15 states.
The cucumber, grown by Florida-based Bedner Growers and distributed through sales of FreshStart Produce, is linked to the outbreak, and was voluntarily recalled in a notice shared by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on May 19th.
This recall is available directly from Bednar’s Farm Fresh Market from April 29th to May 14th, 2025. Now Florida-based Pennrose Farms recalls supplying 1,152 cucumber quail from sales of new start produce. A May 22 FDA notification said Freshstart would contact Penrose and inform the Bedner grower that it may have been provided with the currently repeated cucumber.
Here’s what you need to know.
Which cucumbers will be recalled?
Pennrose Farm voluntarily recalls the 5-pound cucumber mesh bag that Bedner Growers offered through a fresh start produce sale. The cucumbers were repackaged in mesh bags with restaurant depot and Penrose Farm logos.
The bag had UPC code 841214101714 and was packaged with lot numbers (48-122, 48-123, 48-124, 48-125) between May 2nd and May 5th.
The cucumbers were sent to Restaurant Depot Distribution Centers in New Jersey, Georgia, Florida, Illinois and Ohio.

What if you think you might have remembered cucumbers
The FDA recommends people with cucumbers at home to throw them if they don’t know where they are from. Companies are advised not to sell produce and notify customers who may have consumed it prior to the recall.
Additionally, the FDA recommends using hot soapy water or dishwasher to clean surfaces and items that may have touched the cucumber.
The FDA also recommends that businesses clean and disinfect items and surfaces that may have come into contact with the cucumber, and should notify stores to customers who may have used their store or email signs to purchase the cucumber.
Symptoms of Salmonella poisoning
Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause serious, sometimes fatal infections in young children, the elderly and other people with weak immune systems, according to the FDA. The signs of salmonella addiction include:
- Bloody diarrhea or diarrhea lasts more than 3 days without improvement.
- Diarrhea and fever exceeding 102 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Nausea and vomiting, especially when it prevents liquids from being suppressed.
- Signs of dehydration: mouth and throat depletion, rare peeing, dizziness when standing up.
- Static convulsions.
These symptoms most commonly occur 6 hours to 6 days after exposure. Most people recover in 4-7 days, but people with weakened immune systems, including children under the age of 5 and adults over the age of 65, may experience more severe symptoms that require treatment or hospitalization.
