Xiaolongbao stuffed inside onions becomes a trending internet snack
Social media users are recreating a viral recipe that features two ingredients that pair unexpectedly: xiao long bao and onions.
Panera is introducing its first-ever value menu, which includes soups, salads and sandwiches.
Panera’s new mix-and-match menu will give customers the option of purchasing half a sandwich, half a salad or a cup of soup, according to a news release emailed to USA TODAY. Customers can order menu items ranging from two to 10 items and get one free side per order.
Choose from 11 options, including seasonal items. Price is $4.99 each.
The new menu will be available starting Wednesday, February 25th. The addition comes as more fast food restaurants, including McDonald’s and Taco Bell, add value options to their menus.
Here’s what you need to know about the new menu and what you can order.
Differs from the “Choose two” option
Although similar in that you can select multiple menu items, the value menu differs from Panera’s “select two” option.
New value menu There are 10 options, ‘You P“ick Two” meal options offer more choice. The price range is also different. All value menu items are priced at $4.99, while “You Pick Two” options range from $4.99 to $7.89 before tax.
The “You Pick Two” option allows the customer to select up to two items, while the value menu option allows the customer to select up to 10 items.
What does the Panera Value Menu include?
Panera customers can order the following items from the menu:
- half sandwich
- toast italiano– Black Forest ham, soppressata, provolone, romaine lettuce, red onion, sliced peperoncini, Greek dressing, French baguette with garlic aioli.
- baked capri focaccia– Mozzarella, tomato, arugula, basil pesto spread, salt, pepper, black pepper focaccia with a little balsamic glaze.
- bacon turkey bravo– Like the club sandwich, the tomato basil mische includes roasted turkey breast, applewood smoked bacon, aged white cheddar, mixed greens, tomatoes, salt and pepper, and Panera Bravo sauce.
- cranberry walnut chicken salad– Chicken salad with diced chicken, dried cranberries and walnuts tossed with dressing and topped with mixed greens and tomatoes on sourdough.

- caesar– Romaine lettuce tossed with Caesar dressing and topped with shaved Parmesan, black pepper, and sea salt croutons.
- Fuji apple chicken– Mixed greens and romaine lettuce tossed with sweet white balsamic vinegar. The salad is topped with grilled chicken, grape tomatoes, red onions, toasted pecans, feta cheese, and apple chips.
- Lunch Palm BLT – Mixed greens and romaine are tossed with ranch dressing and topped with grape tomatoes, applewood smoked bacon, Parmesan, black pepper, sea salt croutons, and a drizzle of Green Goddess dressing.

- creamy tomato– Pear tomatoes pureed in cream and flavored with red pepper and oregano. The soup is topped with black pepper and sea salt croutons.
- home-style chicken noodles– Homemade chicken soup with white chicken, curly egg noodles, carrot slices, celery slices, and herbs.
- Bistro French Onion – A flavorful soup with caramelized onions, sherry wine vinegar, gastrique, and sea salt. The soup is topped with cheese, black pepper, and sea salt croutons.
Each order includes one side, and customers can choose baguette, chips, or apple.
How much does the value menu cost?
Each option costs $4.99, but you must purchase two options to order from the value menu.
When ordering from the menu, customers pay at least $9.98 before tax.
