The official portrait of former President Barack Obama has been moved from the White House entrance to an area not open to the public.

The move was confirmed by White House officials in USA Today.

Tensions between the former president and the current president have skyrocketed in recent weeks. Last month, Obama fought back against a report released by the National Intelligence Director, which claimed that the former president and top aides had “manufactured and politicized intelligence” against Trump after beating Hillary Clinton in 2016.

Obama’s office in the statement dismissed the Trump administration’s claims as “nonsense and misinformation.” Trump also accused Obama of “treason” at an oval office meeting with Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos, calling him “the ringleader” and his actions.

Trump has a long history of chasing Obama, starting with a birth conspiracy theory.

The Obama portrait, now painted by Robert McCurdy and released in September 2022, has been moved to the top of the spectacular White House staircase upon landing at the entrance to the president’s private residence. The area is open to the public during a White House tour.

This is the second time Obama’s portrait has been moved. The 44th President enjoys the highest favorable review among all living presidents.

In April they bumped into the country to make space for portraits to film an assassination attempt in Trump in Balter, Pennsylvania.

“Some new artwork at the White House,” the official White House account posted on social media platform X.

Obama’s portrait has been moved throughout the foyer.

The White House Historical Society has acquired and commissioned official portraits of the President and First Lady since 1965. They hang in the White House after portraits are presented to the public during the presentation ceremony.

It is customary to include two newest presidential portraits in the White House Grand Foyer. The portrait of former President Joe Biden is not yet complete.

The Trump White House also moved portraits of former presidents George W. Bush and George H. W. Bush into the stairs area. Neither former presidents approved Trump when they ran for the White House in 2016 or in subsequent elections.

These aren’t the only decoration changes that Trump has made.. He chose frames and portraits for the cabinet room, overseeing a massive golden overhaul of the oval office, reconstructing Rose Graydon and building a Grand Ballroom in the East Wing.

“It’s a natural instinct, so I do it part-time,” he said at an August 11 press conference at the White House.
