Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray ended their coaching relationship six months later as the 24-time Grand Slam singles champions continue to struggle with form in 2025.
“Thank you to Coach Andy. I would like to thank all the hard work, fun and support beyond the court over the past six months,” Djokovic wrote on his social media channels. “I really enjoyed growing friendship together.”
The longtime rival, facing some of the best ever encounters in court, announced in November that Murray would join Djokovic’s coaching team.
The partnership got off to a promising start as Djokovic defeated Carlos Alcaraz in a four-set epic in the quarterfinals before reaching the semi-finals of the Australian Open in January.
However, Djokovic and Murray have not been able to rekindle anything closer to that form since then.
“We would like to thank Novak for his incredible opportunity to work with him and for all his efforts over the past six months,” Murray said in a statement. “I hope Novak is the best for the rest of the season.”
Djokovic’s best performance this year reached the final of the Miami Open. The 24th-time Grand Slam champion lost in the first round at the Qatar Open and Indian Wells before Miami, and in the first round of the Monte Carlo Masters and Madrid Open.
Recently in March Djokovic said he hopes Murray will become his coach through the French Open and Wimbledon.
The 37-year-old was drawn from the ongoing Italian opening at the end of April, and this week he accepted the wild card to the Geneva Open, which begins on May 18th.
