2025 TikTok trends we couldn’t resist
Here are our favorite TikTok trends of 2025, including Nicki Minaj’s high heel challenge, Group 7, and Dancing with the Stars’ “Air Walk.”
Nicki Minaj is fully supporting President Donald Trump’s administration.
The Trinidadian rapper declared himself “honored” to appear as a surprise guest on the fourth day of Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest conference in Phoenix on Dec. 21, the first annual summit since Charlie Kirk’s death in September, and praised the closeness between Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance.
The 43-year-old greeted the cheering crowd by walking hand-in-hand with Elka Kirk and making hearts with her hands to salute fans as Minaj’s 2011 hit “Super Bass” played.
“I have the utmost respect and admiration for the president. I don’t even know if he knows it, but he has given so many people hope that we have a chance to defeat the bad guys and win, and to do it with pride and integrity,” Minaj said.
She went on to draw similarities between herself and the Republican president, noting that they are both from Queens, New York.
“What this movie showed me personally is that even when you have the worst feelings in your life, sometimes you think you’ll never recover from it, but you do, and our president shows that,” Minaj said. “He’s been through everything a person can go through in public: having to lie all the time.”
The singer did not reveal what lies the president has been fighting against.
USA TODAY has reached out to Minaj’s representatives for comment.
Erica Kirke laughs at Nicki Minaj calling JD Vance an ‘assassin’
She then called President Trump “the handsome and dashing president of our country” and called “our vice president, assassin J.D. Vance,” a “fantastic” role model.
Minaj then started chiming in, saying, “If you say that. Hmm.” The rapper covered his mouth with his hand, seemingly remembering that Erica Kirke’s late husband, Charlie Kirke, was shot and killed by a suspect who was accused of “deliberately” targeting conservative activists for “political expression.”
“Believe me, there’s nothing new under the sun that I haven’t heard,” Kirk replied. “I love you. I have to laugh about that, really.
“I’ve been called to all sorts of things. And, you know, God is so good that he rolled that off my back. And this is what’s so beautiful about this moment, because who cares if the internet wants to cut it out? I love this woman. She’s an amazing woman. She has a soul and a heart for the Lord.”
Nicki Minaj praises President Trump and JD Vance for being ‘smart and strong’
“This administration is full of people with heart and soul, and I’m so proud of them,” Minaj told the Turning Point crowd, including Trump and Vance. “I love both of them. They’re both powerful men. They’re smart, they’re strong, they’re all that. But they both have a very uncanny ability to be empathetic people. I can empathize with them.”
Minaj explained, “When you hear their stories, you know they’re one of us. … They haven’t lost their connection to the world. They’re still connected to the world and what’s going on in the world.”
She explained that Trump and J.D. Vance have the ability to be “authentic and make people proud to be American.”
Nicki Minaj won’t ‘retract’ her political beliefs
Minaj explained why she decided to become political, vowing to never “take back” her beliefs.
“What was the turning point? Well, I was just tired of being pushed around. Sometimes you just get tired of it and then you realize, ‘Wait a minute. There’s something inside of me that’s stronger than what’s outside,'” Minaj told Kirk.
The “Beads in the Trap” rapper then hinted that he feels pressured to stay silent about his politics.
“When you get tired of it, you realize, ‘Wait a minute, why do I care about these people and what they think? Who are they? They don’t even know who they are,'” she says. “So I’m not going to back down anymore. I’m never going to back down again.”
Minaj later reflected on political division, saying, “We’re not allowed to have different opinions anymore. We’re not allowed to think out loud anymore. The world has never been like this.”
Minaj has praised Trump on social media in recent days, and recently teamed up with U.N. Ambassador Mike Walz to speak out about widespread allegations of anti-Christian violence. Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has dismissed the country’s character as “religiously intolerant.”
She also slammed Democratic California Governor Gavin Newsom in an X post criticizing his support for transgender children.
The White House shared footage of Kirk and Minaj’s sit-down shortly after the event, captioning it, “Making me feel proud to be an American 🔥.”
