The Arizona Lottery announced that a Valley resident is now millions of dollars richer after purchasing a winning ticket.

One lucky person has won the Mega Millions jackpot.
On Dec. 2, just weeks after someone in Georgia won the $983 million Mega Millions jackpot, the eighth-largest jackpot in the game’s history, another lucky ticket sold in New Jersey matched all six numbers drawn and won a $90 million jackpot. The winner has the option of a one-time cash payment of $41.9 million.
The win in just five drawings marks the shortest jackpot win since August 2023, when a lucky person in Florida won a $39 million jackpot in two drawings, after a record-breaking $1.602 billion jackpot was won in Florida, according to a Mega Millions news release.
In 2025, a total of six jackpots were won. Most recently, one lucky person in Georgia won a $983 million jackpot in November.

How to play Mega Millions
To play Mega Millions, you must purchase a ticket. This can be done at a variety of locations, including local convenience stores, gas stations, and grocery stores. In some states, you can purchase Mega Millions tickets online.
Once you have your ticket, you have to choose six numbers. Five of them are white balls numbered 1-70. The golden mega ball ranges from 1 to 24.
If you’re feeling particularly unlucky or don’t want to go through the hassle of picking, you can request a “quick pick” or “easy pick.” When you use these options, your computer randomly generates numbers.
Mega Millions tickets have built-in multipliers that increase your non-jackpot prize by 2, 3, 4, 5, or 10 times. Previously, players had to pay an extra dollar to add a “Megaplier”.
