As we are already celebrating National Pizza Day and National Cheese Pizza Day this year, it’s no surprise that there’s a day dedicated to the most popular pizza toppings.
Saturday, September 20th is National Pepperoni Pizza Day, with restaurants across the country offering deals for consumers to celebrate.
According to a 2023 YouGov poll of America’s most preferred and hated pizza topping, pepperoni is the country’s favorite topping, with 24% of respondents listing it as their favorite topping, with under 1% saying it’s the least favorite topping.
Other popular toppings include sausages, extra cheese, mushrooms and chicken, according to a poll of more than 1,000 US adults.
Anchovies robbed the crown as the country’s least popular pizza topping, with 29% of respondents saying it is their most favorite. According to polls, jalapeños, pineapple and eggplant were also unpopular pizza toppings.
According to the US Department of Agriculture, about 11% of Americans eat pizza on certain days. Children and adolescents consume pizza more frequently than adults, the USDA said.
The US eats 240,000 Olympic-sized swimming pools with slices of pizza, according to a study conducted by a speaker study at a market research firm for Pizza Hut’s 2025 Pizza Trends Report.

According to Papa John’s Instagram account, the pizza chain is offering Papa Rewards members 30% off the Ultimate Pepperoni Pizza on September 20th.

The deal isn’t particularly tied to National Pepperoni Pizza Day, but Pizza Hut offers a deal that will allow customers to get one of their new limited edition Flatzz personal pizzas starting at just $5.
The crafted flats come in five different flavors, including pepperoni duo laver and the ultimate flavor featuring pepperoni, Italian sausages, caramelized onions, roasted peppers, tomatoes and sweet marinara and mozzarella cheese.
Pepperoni’s duo laver features a combination of classic pepperoni and cup n’ crisps, finished with mozzarella cheese, sweet marinara and cheese blended seasonings.
Marco’s pizza offers contracts on big pizza
To celebrate National Pepperoni Pizza Day, Marco’s Pizza is offering a large pepperoni magnificent pizza for just $9.99 using the code “LPMAG9.” This transaction is valid for a limited time at participating stores.
Pepperoni’s Magnificent Pizza comes in two types of pepperoni, shaved with Parmesan cheese and scattered with Lomesan seasonings.
Mountain Mike’s pizza offers discounts through the app and online
On September 20th, you can either get 15% off one big Pepperoni pizza on Mountain Mike’s Pizza via the Mountain Rewards app or use the code “Peppday15” online at checkout.

Another pizza chain offering a discount on September 20th is from Papa Murphy. The company told USA Today it is offering 25% off purchases over $25.
