Lightning caused a fire in Tuolumne County and ongoing evacuation
A series of lightning-covered wildfires resulted in an evacuation order at Sierra Foothills in Tuolm County on Tuesday.

California wildfires burned thousands of acres of flames and encouraged evacuations, including historic Chinese camp towns.
The 6-5 fire in Tuolm County, about 115 miles northeast of San Jose, consumed 6,473 acres as of 5:27am on Wednesday, September 3rd, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Prevention, also known as the CAL Fire.
Fire is not included yet.
The 6-5 fire was combined with the TCU’s September lightning fire. This includes six other fires that have collected 2-7 fires nearby, collectively burning a total of 12,473 acres. The fire is burning in multiple locations in Calaveras and Tuolum counties.
“The forced evacuation order is being implemented as the widespread warnings are further expanded,” Cal Fire said on its website. “The Incident Command required important resources such as engines, dozers, crews, aircraft, and more, as fires burn at dangerous speeds and threaten multiple structures.”
What caused the 6-5 fire? When did it start?
According to Cal Fire, the fire is believed to have been caused by lightning.
The fire was discovered on Tuesday, September 2nd, at 8:23pm local time.
A house destroyed in the fire
Several homes have been damaged or destroyed Due to a fire in a camp town in China, according to NBC News and local news outlet KCRA. The country town was California’s Gold Rush Town, where Chinese miners who had been kicked out of nearby camps settled around 1850.
Cal Fire also does not list the number of structures destroyed by fire, and no injuries or deaths have been reported.

As of early Wednesday, September 3rd, the TCU’s complex lightning fire in September consists of the following fires, according to the Cal Fire.

6-5 Fire Evacuation Zone
According to Cal Fire, the next area is under evacuation orders due to “immediate threats to life.”

- 6-bit lunch load
- 6-bit Gulch Road
- Red Hill Road
- Don Pedro Dam Road
- Old Don Pedro Dam Road
- Menki Hessroad
- All roads east of highway 108 from Junction 59 to Highway 49
- Both sides of highway 120 from the Chinese camp to Highway 120 Bridge
- Rojo
- Shawmut Road
All areas from Belmooney and Jacksonville Road to Highway 49 and Highway 108 have been evacuated.
“It takes additional time to evacuate, and anyone with pets and livestock should leave now,” said people in the area with evacuation warning.
