Something you purchased has been recalled. What does that mean?
What happens if something you purchase is recalled? Is it voluntary or mandatory? And what does it mean for you?
Thousands of bicycle helmets sold at Walmart have been recalled due to serious safety concerns.
More than 40,000 Concord-brand helmets are being recalled for failing to meet mandatory safety standards, according to a Feb. 26 warning from the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Helmets may not adequately protect bikers in an accident, putting them at risk of serious head injury or death.
The helmets were manufactured in China and sold for about $30 at Walmart stores nationwide and online at Walmart.com from January 2025 to September 2025, according to the CPSC.
Here’s what you need to know about the recalled bicycle helmets.
Which helmets have been recalled?
According to the CPSC, approximately 40,245 Concord brand large-sized 360-degree rechargeable light-up motorcycle helmets are subject to the recall. The helmet is black with black straps, black buckles, and black plastic knobs on the back for adjustments. It has a built-in LED lighting system and has “Concord” printed on the back.
What should I do if I have a recalled helmet?
Consumers who own a recalled helmet should immediately stop using it and contact the manufacturer, Todson, for a full refund at 360concordhelmet@todson.com. To receive a refund, consumers must submit a photo of the helmet with the straps cut to prove the helmet was damaged.
The CPSC said consumers should not throw helmets in the trash because they use lithium-ion batteries. This type of battery poses a high risk of fire and must be disposed of properly. Check with your local municipal household hazardous waste collection center to see if they accept lithium-ion waste, or visit Todson.com/360-concord-recall to learn more about potential disposal locations.
