J&D Brush has recalled approximately 357,000 hair irons due to the risk of burns.
J&D Brush recalled its Bio-Ion 1-inch barrel curling iron on Thursday, October 23rd, due to concerns that the curling iron’s barrel could break or fall off, posing a risk of burns. This recall affects approximately 357,000 products, in addition to approximately 3,000 products sold in Canada.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), as of October 23, there have been 258 reports of burns caused by barrel removal, six of which were minor burns.

What curling irons were recalled?
According to the CPSC, the recall applies to J&D Brush Bio Ionic 1-inch long barrel curling irons with model number LXT-CL-1.0 and date codes from July 2022 to December 2023. The model number is located on the handle of the curling iron. The date code is engraved on the protrusion of the plug.
The recalled curling iron weighs approximately 15 ounces and measures 15.8 inches long, 2.87 inches high and 1.65 inches wide, according to the CPSC.
The curling iron has a black handle and barrel, a blue “BIOIONIC” logo, and a black label with instructions for use.
Where was the recalled curling iron sold?
According to the CPSC, the recalled curling irons were sold in-person at SalonCentric, Ulta, Sephora, Nordstrom and local salons and beauty stores from August 2022 to July 2024, as well as online at Amazon and BioIonic.com for approximately $165.
What should I do if I have a hair iron that is subject to a recall?
According to the CPSC, consumers who own the recalled curling irons should immediately stop using them, unplug them and contact Bio Ionic to register for a free replacement. Consumers are asked to cut off the plug from their curling iron and return the plug using their prepaid shipping label.
