Car Recall: Why They Will and What Should You Know
Why does a car recall occur? Here’s what you need to know if your car has an open recall:
More than 200,000 RAM vehicles have been recalled by Stellantis after the company discovered that the car’s rear-view cameras were unable to properly display the images.
According to a May 21 notification from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the recall will apply to more than 235,000 RAM Promaster vans for the model year from 2022 to 2025.
Vans’ Balview camera does not display images, instead displays as a blank image, reducing the view of the driver behind the car.
“If the driver does not pay attention to blank screen warnings and otherwise confirm that it is safe to operate the vehicle in reverse, a vehicle can cause a collision,” the recall report said.
Stellantis, reported in the NHTSA report as Chrysler (FCA US, LLC), said in a statement to USA Today that it is unaware of any accidents or injuries related to the recall.
“If images are not displayed, the driver should take caution by visually verifying the safety of the backup operation.
