One of America’s largest auto service companies is closing 145 stores nationwide after a recent $5.2 million drop in sales, the company’s top leader announced.
Monro Inc. will close its stores after reporting a 4.9% decline in sales for fiscal year 2025, which ends March 29th.
Fitzsimmons, who was appointed CEO on March 31st, said:
Fitzsimmons, partner and managing director of global consulting firm Alixpartners, has replaced the company’s former president, Michael Broderick.
Other goals include “Improved Merchandising Productivity, including improved customer experience and selling effectiveness, promoting profitable customer acquisition and activation, and mitigating tariff risk,” according to a news release on May 28th. “Our improvement plan will take some time to implement, but I think it will increase profitability in FY26, increasing operating profit and total shareholder profit.”
New York-based Fairport reports a $1.195 billion decline in revenue, down 6.4% from $1.277 billion in the previous fiscal year 2024, according to the release. Net loss for fiscal year 2025 was $5.2 million compared to net income of $37.6 million for the previous year. This continues.
How many Monro stores are there in the US?
Monro has closed 145 stores across the United States. It was not immediately known which place would close. A Monro spokesman told USA Today it has not released a full list of stores that are scheduled to close “at this time.”
Monro has over 1,300 locations, according to the Monro website and Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, part of the USA Today Network.
The stores include flagship brands, Monro Auto Service, Tire Center, and Mr. Tire Auto Service Center.

The move was also announced by an automobile company that announced in June 2023 that it plans to sell its headquarters in Rochester, New York.
Founder Chuck Augusto started Monro after opening the Midas Muffler Shop in 1957. Democrats and Chronicle reported in 1998. Over the next eight years, we added three more Midas shops in August, then broke with franchisers over the services offered. Finally, August gave Monroe a name to his new store, and he wanted to save the big “M” on the sign. However, “Onroe” does not fit where “Idas” was, so I dropped “E”.
