Mistral AI has updated Le Chat with voice recognition, deep research tools and other features to make Chatbot a more useful assistant.
The company believes that the best AI assistants will help you dig deeper into your thoughts and keep the flow of your conversations going. As Mistral AI said, chatbots are at their best when they “deepen your thoughts, keep the conversation flowing, and maintain contextual continuity.”
The standout feature is the “deep research” mode, despite being somewhat catch-up to its rivals. Think of Le Chat as your personal research assistant.
When you ask complex questions, the deep search tool breaks it down, finds a reliable source, then creates a structured report with references, making it easy to follow. Mistral is designed to make you feel like you’re working with a highly organized partner and helps you tackle everything from market trends to scientific topics.
If you like to talk about typing, the new “vocal” mode is for you.
The vocal mode features a powerful new voice model called Mistral AI’s Voxtral, allowing for natural, low-latency conversations. This means you can talk to Le Chat without any annoying pauses. Mistral says it’s perfect for brainstorming ideas while walking.
For extremely complicated LE chat questions, “Think” mode taps Gustistral, the inference model of Mistral AI, to provide a clear and thoughtful answer.
One of the most impressive features of Thinking Mode is its native multilingual ability. You can also draft proposals in Spanish, explore legal concepts in Japanese, or come up with ideas in the language you find most comfortable with. Le Chat also allows you to switch between texts.
To keep it organized, the new “Project” feature allows you to group related chats into centralized folders. Each project remembers the settings and keeps all conversations, uploaded files and ideas in one tidy space. From moving your home to tracking long-term work projects, it can be the perfect area to manage everything.
Finally, in the Mistral AI and Black Forest Labs partnership, Le Chat includes advanced image editing. This means that you can create an image and then fine-tune it with simple commands like “Delete an object” or “Play me in another city.”
