McDonald’s is greenlighting the St. Patrick’s Day season with the return of its popular Shamrock Shake.
The fast-food chain’s mint milkshakes are available for a limited time each year ahead of the auspicious holiday. This year, fans have a month until St. Patrick’s Day, which is celebrated on March 17, to get their fair share of the treat.
Comprised of vanilla soft serve, mint green-flavored syrup, and whipped topping, the Shamrock Shake has become a cult classic since it first launched nationwide in 2012.

McDonald’s Shamrock Shake return date
Shamrock Shake will return to McDonald’s starting Tuesday, February 17th.
The company hasn’t announced how long the sweets will be available, but they are seasonal and available for a limited time.
Oreo Shamrock McFlurry is also back
For a change of flavor, try the Oreo Shamrock McFlurry. This will also be back for a limited time starting February 17th.
The treat is a variation of McDonald’s year-round Oreo McFlurry, which features vanilla soft serve ice cream with mint shamrock syrup and Oreos.
The Oreo Shamrock McFlurry first debuted in 2020 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Shamrock Shake.

According to McDonald’s, a Shamrock Shake contains between 500 and 800 calories, depending on the size.
- Shamrock Shake (Small): 500 calories
- Medium Shamrock Shake: 540 calories
- Large Shamrock Shake: 800 calories
By comparison, McDonald’s Medium Vanilla Shake has 570 calories and Medium Chocolate Shake has 650 calories.
According to McDonald’s, a regular-sized Oreo Shamrock McFlurry contains 460 calories.
