Social Security payments will be made on the regular schedule in March.
Social Security benefits, which are paid primarily to elderly or retired beneficiaries, are typically paid on Wednesdays. According to the Social Security Administration’s calendar, payments are made on the second Wednesday of each month to beneficiaries whose birthday falls between the 1st and 10th of the month (this month, it’s March 11th).
People born between the 11th and 20th will be paid on the third Wednesday of each month (March 18th). According to the SSA calendar, people born on or after the 20th of the month are paid on the fourth Wednesday of the month (March 25). Social Security recipients who began receiving benefits before May 1997 will receive payments on March 3rd.
This month’s payments come on the heels of an alarming report from the Congressional Budget Office suggesting that the Social Security Trust Fund (officially known as the Old Age and Survivors Insurance Trust Fund) will be depleted in fiscal year 2032 (by September 2032), sooner than the 2033 estimate projected by the program’s governing board in June 2025.
After the trust fund that covers the difference between Social Security benefits and payroll tax revenues is depleted, the program must begin reducing benefit payments. Benefit cuts are estimated to be 7% in 2032 and average 28% annually from 2033 to 2036, according to CBO.

- Wednesday, march 18: Birthdays are between the 11th and 20th of every month.
- Wednesday, march twenty five: Birthdays from the 21st to the 31st of each month.

Recipients of Supplemental Securities Income (SSI) checks are typically issued payments on the first business day of the month. Because March 1, 2026 is a Sunday, the March payment will now be made on Friday, February 27, 2026.
