The annual Met Gala returns to 2025 on the first Monday in May at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This year’s Met Ball is an A-list talented invitation-only event that will fund and respond to the museum’s costume lab and its spring exhibit, Superfine: Tailing Black Style.
The exhibition and evening dress code “Tailared for You” highlights black dandyism. With celebrities attendees including A$AP Rocky, Spike Lee, Janelle Monaé, Ausher and more, we hope to see a red carpet filled with Immaculate suits, custom couture and inventive tailings that focus on black history and personal style.

Despite forecasts for rain for the first Monday of May, the star is set to appear in one of the biggest events of the year.
This year’s carpet is dotted with white and yellow anemone Honorin Jobert flowers blooming in the green surrounded by the famous Metsteps. The usual bustling 5th Avenue, usually packed with onlookers across the street, could potentially mark the arrival of VVIP at some point this year.
Met Gala 2025 Theme: Black Dandyism
This theme coincides with Superfine: Tailing Black Style, a spring exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute. This is described as “300 years of black-style cultural and historical inspections through the concept of dandyism.”
Inspired by Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book, Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and The Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, the exhibition theme explores how a multicultural blend of African and European styles informs black identities. Black dandyism became a practice in which blacks, especially black men, used the power of personal style as a form of resistance, and used methods to push back social restrictions and negative perceptions in terms of race, class, gender and sexuality.

The gala, which was held on the first Monday of May, will be held on May 5th. Usually, the carpet is kicked off on the first arrival around 5pm and covers broadcasts and streams from 6pm

The days leading up to the Met Gala became a sight to be seen, with stars running around New York, mixing together.

The benefits of the Costume Institute, commonly known as the Met Gala, is a fundraiser for the Costume Institute, a museum that boasts a collection of over 33,000 fashion artifacts.
Met Gala has grown to the over-the-top level of what it is today thanks to Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour, who began as a “Midnight Dinner” in 1948 and took over in 1995.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art Steps matched the colours of white roses and green and the carpet itself, and brought it to life in 2024 for the evening theme “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.”
