The 26-year-old “Old Town Road” rapper, Montero Lamar Hill, was charged with three batteries injured by a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has been confirmed to USA Today.

Lil Nas X pleaded not guilty on Monday, August 25th. A Los Angeles judge set bail at $75,000 and said the singer must attend an anonymous drug meeting.

USA Today contacted the representative of Lil Nas X for comments.

The rapper was arrested shortly after 6am on Thursday, August 21st, Los Angeles Sheriff’s prisoner records show. In an earlier statement to USA Today, Officer Drake Madison of the Los Angeles Police Department said he responded that morning to a “naked man walking on the street” on Ventura Boulevard.

“On arrival, the suspect was charged by an officer and taken into custody,” LAPD said. “He was taken to a local hospital due to an overdose and was placed in a battery arrest by a police officer.” Madison later confirmed that the incident was linked to the arrest of Lil Nass X.

Police said they believe Lil Nas X was using drugs during the incident. However, his lawyer, Christy O’Connor, said he was not using illegal drugs and described the episode as an artist’s insane.

Lil Nas X, who was nominated for 11 Grammy Awards and won two, achieved a breakthrough in 2018 with the extremely popular song “Old Town Road” and released his debut studio album “Montero” in 2021.
