Former MLB star Lenny Dykstra is facing drug charges after a traffic stop on January 1, according to Pennsylvania State Police records.

The 62-year-old was a passenger in a 2015 GMC Sierra that was stopped by Blooming Grove Patrol Troopers in Pike County, Pennsylvania.

According to case details, “officers conducted a traffic stop for a motor vehicle violation,” and Dykstra was “found to be in possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia.”

The incident report concluded with “prosecution planned.”

The driver of the car has not been identified.

Dykstra’s attorney, Matthew Britt, said in a statement to The Associated Press that the former baseball player “was not accused of being under the influence of drugs at the scene.”

The three-time All-Star previously faced drug and terroristic threats charges, but a judge dropped those charges in 2019. Police said they found Dykstra in possession of cocaine, MDMA and marijuana after an altercation with an Uber driver in 2018.

Mr. Dykstra was serving time in a California prison for bankruptcy fraud. He was released in 2013.

The California native spent 12 seasons in MLB, playing for the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies.

The center fielder was a three-time All-Star, won the Silver Slugger Award, and won the 1986 World Series with the Mets.
