Billionaire real estate mogul Stan Kroenke, best known as the owner of the Los Angeles Rams and Denver Nuggets, currently owns a large tract of land in New Mexico.

Kroenke’s company acquired six large ranches across several counties in New Mexico’s eastern half in December, according to deeds filed in three New Mexico counties.

With his purchase of a 937,000-acre ranch in New Mexico, Mr. Kroenke, 78, becomes the nation’s largest private landowner, according to Land Report’s latest list of America’s 100 largest landowners, published annually.

Kroenke currently owns 2.7 million acres of land in New Mexico, Nevada, Wyoming and Texas, including his largest ranch, the 535,000-acre Wagoner Ranch near Vernon, North Texas, according to Land Report.

The Kroenke Ranch is used for raising cattle, hunting and producing renewable energy, the magazine reported.

It has become a trend in recent years for wealthy entrepreneurs to buy ranches, reports the Robb Report, an online publication focused on luxury lifestyles, in 2025.

“These buyers are not ranchers by trade; they are founders, financiers and heirs who view acreage as a solid, long-term store of value,” the newspaper reported.

The six ranches in New Mexico were acquired from the Henry Singleton family in December 2025.

The late Mr. Singleton was the founder and chief executive officer of Teledyne Technologies, which manufactures sophisticated electronic components, instrumentation and communications products for a variety of industries and aims to achieve sales of more than $6 billion in 2025.

Financial details of the sale were not made public. Mr. Kroenke has no comment on the transaction, a spokesperson for his real estate company, the Kroenke Group, said in an email.

Real estate deeds for the sale of Lobo Ranch and Pecos Ranch were filed in Guadalupe County. The deed of sale for Agua Verde, Conchas and Trigg Ranch was filed in San Miguel County. A deed of sale for BoJack’s Ranch was then filed in Chaves County.

Pecos Ranch and Conchas Ranch are located near Santa Rosa in east-central New Mexico. Lobo Ranch is located near Vaughan, south of Santa Rosa Corner and Klein’s Corner. Agua Verde Ranch is located near Krin’s Corners, about 80 miles south of Santa Fe. Trigg Ranch is located near Logan, just north of Tumkukari. BoJack’s Ranch is located north of Roswell, near Elida.

The Singleton Ranch was not Kroenke’s first large-scale ranch acquisition in New Mexico. He previously purchased Cannon Blanco Ranch, an 80,892-acre ranch located 24 miles southeast of Santa Fe, according to The Land Report. The ranch was sold in June 2023 for $60 million, according to the Alamosa Citizen Online newspaper.

Cannon Blanco was once owned by El Paso millionaire William “Bill” Sanders. Sanders is the father-in-law of former U.S. Representative Beto O’Rourke, who lost bids for the U.S. Senate and Texas governorship. The Wall Street Journal reported in 1999 that Mr. Sanders put the ranch on the market for $72 million. However, the El Paso Press reported that he did not sell the ranch until 2019, and the sale price was not reported.

In addition to the ranch, Kroenke also owns millions of square feet of retail space, much of it in shopping plazas adjacent to Walmart stores, Forbes reported. His wife is the daughter of Bud Walton, whose brother Sam helped build the Wal-Mart chain. According to a report in Forbes magazine, she inherited a portion of her father’s shares in Walmart when he died in 1995.

Stan Kroenke’s net worth is estimated at $21.3 billion by Forbes magazine and $26.8 billion by Bloomberg News.

In addition to the highly successful Los Angeles Rams in the NFL and the Denver Nuggets in the NBA, Mr. Kroenke is also the owner of the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche, Major League Soccer’s Colorado Rapids, the National Lacrosse League’s Colorado Mammoth, and the English Premier League’s Arsenal Soccer Club.
