Sweet treats for cell phone service? Not the worst trade in the world.
Krispy Kreme is giving away free donuts in response to the Verizon outage that affected thousands of customers on January 14th.
The pastry stalwart is offering customers one free Original Glazed Donut from 5pm to 7pm, and says in a social media post that “some days you just need a solid backup plan that you can trust.”
The company poked fun at the wireless carrier’s signature slogan, writing, “We can now hear you – and we’re here to serve you.”
This offer is valid at most Krispy Kreme stores, but excludes the Times Square store and Puerto Rico stores.
USA TODAY reached out to a representative for Krispy Kreme, who did not provide any comment beyond the social media post.
