Luxury retailer Saks Global files for bankruptcy amid debt crisis
Luxury retailer Saks Global has filed for bankruptcy. The stores remain open today after securing a $1.75 billion funding package and appointing a new CEO.
Kohl’s is introducing a new discount section at the front of its stores called the “Deal Bar.”
The new Deal Bar features a variety of gifts under $10, including children’s activities like sticker books and craft kits, seasonal decorations, thank you gifts like Teacher Appreciation Week, and small office storage items. The “Deal Bar” at the front of the store is similar to Target’s Dollar Spot, which is the section at the front of a Target store that carries $1, $3, and $5 items.
As of Feb. 11, the Deal Bar included wellness products and accessories such as meal prep utensils, skipping ropes, yoga blocks, Easter decorations, candles and crafts, according to a Kohl’s news release.

New stores will be added after stores close in 2025
Kohl’s Deal Bar comes less than a year after Kohl’s began closing “underperforming” stores across the country. The department store will close 27 stores in 15 states by May 2025. As of Feb. 18, Kohl’s website said the company operated more than 1,100 stores in 49 states.
