Wicked’s Jonathan Bailey has been named People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive, making him the first openly gay man to do so.
After winning the Broadcast Film Critics Association Award and receiving an Emmy nomination last year, the “Bridgerton” fanatic is now being praised for his undeniable charm. Jimmy Fallon had the honor of revealing the title during Monday, Nov. 3’s episode of “The Tonight Show.”
“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime honor,” the 37-year-old said. “Jimmy, I just want to say thank you so much for saying no to come here.”
Bailey revealed that he received the phone call earlier this year while he was playing the lead role in Richard II at London’s Bridge Theatre. He said, “You’re a little crazy. The only thing crazier than doing ‘Richard II’ was being invited to do this production.”
He also joked that when he told his friends about it, they said, “Yeah, do affirmations.”
“The Office” alum John Krasinski retained the title of 2024’s Sexiest Man Alive. Now, the ‘Jurassic World: Rebirth’ star will join recent sexy winners including ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ alum Patrick Dempsey (2023), ‘Captain America’ actor Chris Evans (2022) and ‘The Sinners’ star Michael B. Jordan (2020).
This year marks another special year as Bailey was named People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive, marking 40 years since the magazine has proclaimed this honor since 1985. At the time, Oscar winner Mel Gibson was the first recipient of the award. Since then, the outlet has spotlighted a male star every year, with the exception of 1993, when Richard Gere and Cindy Crawford were named Sexiest Couple.

‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’ made the big reveal, during which the 46-year-old ‘A Quiet Place’ director spoke about his wife Emily Blunt’s reaction to the news.
“There was so much laughter on the other end of the phone that it was hard to make out the words,” Krasinski said.
