Attorney for fired UM coach Sherone Moore speaks to reporters
Joseph Simon, the attorney for fired UM football coach Sherone Moore, spoke to reporters after his arraignment.
Los Angeles Chargers manager Jim Harbaugh said in response to questions from reporters on Friday, Dec. 12, that he is “still processing” the firing and arrest of former University of Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore. Since then, Harbaugh has had several days to assess the situation and has been in contact with Moore.
During an appearance on “The Dan Patrick Show,” Harbaugh revealed that he has been texting Moore since his arrest.
Asked about Moore’s mental health, Harbaugh said: “It’s a tragedy. These are the worst days of my life.” “Be nice and take care of your family. That’s the message. And it’s very important to receive spiritual guidance.”
Moore was arrested on December 10, shortly after being fired from Michigan State, and was held in the Washtenaw County Jail, Michigan, as part of a police assault investigation. According to court documents released Dec. 12, Moore faces criminal charges of felony third-degree burglary, misdemeanor stalking and domestic relations, and misdemeanor trespassing.
Coach Harbaugh originally hired Moore as Michigan’s tight ends coach in 2018. Under Harbaugh, Moore was promoted to co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach in 2021. He then became the sole title holder for the Wolverines’ offensive coordinator role in 2023.
Moore will replace Harbaugh as head coach at the University of Michigan in 2024, when Harbaugh accepts the head coaching job with the Chargers.
Harbaugh said he has exchanged text messages with Moore, but the coach remains focused on the Chargers’ upcoming road game against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 16.
“I still can’t wrap my head around it. It’s a tragedy. I just pray for everyone involved,” Harbaugh said. “I love my alma mater. I love Michigan. And I love the Chargers. I would be terrible if I didn’t put all my focus into this game. This is the most important game for us.”
