Jackson Browne mourns the sudden death of son Ethan
Jackson Browne announces that his son Ethan Brown has passed away suddenly at the age of 52.
Musician Jackson Browne’s son Ethan Brown died after being found unresponsive in his home on Tuesday morning, November 25th. He passed away at the age of 52.
“We ask for privacy and respect for our family during this difficult time,” Jackson’s official Facebook account said in a short statement posted on Wednesday, Nov. 26. The cause of Ethan’s death has not been determined and “further details are not available at this time,” the statement said.
The singer-songwriter’s son continued to work as an actor, including in 1995’s “Hackers” and 2004’s “Raising Helen,” while also working as a model.
According to People magazine, he is the son of Jackson’s late wife, Phyllis Major, who died by suicide in 1976, one year after their marriage, when her son was an infant.
The 2021 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee told Root Magazine that becoming a father is a priority in his life. “There were only two things I wanted to be able to balance: being a songwriter and being a father,” Jackson told the magazine at the time. “And I thought of it like this: If I have to be the father, I hope I know that and just do it.”
Jackson is also the father of Ryan, 43, with ex-wife Lynne Sweeney.
Ethan eventually became a father himself, and his father said he was a great father in that regard.
“Ethan is a great father, a great son, a great man,” Brown said in 2022 at True Rock Revival. “I love seeing him with his kids. Seeing him be in movies, model, be with his daughter, and be such a great father makes me so proud. It makes me feel like I really did the right thing in life.”
