Amazon expanded its annual Prime Day sales event, lasting four days twice as long as it had been, resulting in blowing away previous sales figures.
Prime Day 2025, held from July 8th to 11th, said it is the leading online retailer.
Amazon’s 11th Prime Day promoted record sales and record numbers, greater than the previous four-day period, including Prime Day events, the company said. (This promotion took place over two days in 2019. This year, Amazon expanded to four days for the first time.)
Prime Day’s four-day US online spending has an estimated $24.1 billion, according to Adobe. Adobe Analytics sales data tracks online transactions across US retail sites. The tally and anonymized data does not directly track Amazon sales, but reflects overall spending and suggests Prime Day demand.
How did Amazon Prime Day 2025 compare to Black Friday in 2024?
Prime Day spending will be “on two or more Black Fridays that drove $10.8 billion online spending during the 2024 holiday shopping season, setting a new benchmark for the summer shopping season,” Adobe said in a news release. In total, Adobe’s estimate for the day before Prime exceeded its $23.8 billion sales.
“This year’s expanded Prime Day event has brought in incredible savings to its members in millions of transactions,” said Doug Herrington, CEO of Amazon Worldwide Stores, in a news release. “We are excited to see record savings from customers who find high prices on the everyday essentials and products they love.”
Herrington also paid tribute to Amazon employees, saying, “Their efforts have made this our biggest Prime Day ever, so we are grateful for their contributions.”
Independent sellers, including small businesses, including small businesses, also won record sales and record numbers of items, according to Amazon.
“We saw impressive sales across our catalogue, not just our major exclusive deals,” Anne Maza, co-owner of Olivia Garden, a small business, said in a statement. “Beyond immediate revenue growth, we are particularly excited about increasing brand awareness and acquiring new customers through events.”
According to Adobe, the majority of shoppers (53.2%) purchase on mobile devices on desktop computers, accounting for $12.8 billion in spending.
Sales have been piled up despite President Donald Trump’s tariff strategy and economic uncertainty that has flagged consumer confidence.
