Peanut butter recall extends to 40 states
More than 20,000 Ventura-brand peanut butter products have been recalled in 40 states due to the risk of plastic contamination.
A California-based company is recalling some men’s chocolate products because the products contain “undeclared active pharmaceutical ingredients,” according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
These products (Gold Lion Aphrodisiac Chocolate Male Enhancement Sachet and Ilumsex Chocolate Male Enhancement Booster) contain sildenafil and tadalafil and may pose a threat to consumers because the active ingredients interact with nitrates found in prescription drugs and can cause a “life-threatening” drop in blood pressure, the FDA said.
“Among the adult men most likely to use these products, adult men who use nitrates for heart conditions are most at risk from these products,” the FDA said in a March 26 recall notice.
According to the FDA, the products are distributed nationwide through Internet sales by Gear Isle, a Bay Area company whose website says it specializes in “adult novelties.” The agency also said Gear Isle is notifying customers via letter and arranging returns and refunds for all recalled products.
According to the FDA, Gear Isle has not received any reports of illness or death related to this recall. The FDA said consumers who own the recalled products should stop using them and return them for a refund.
