After a series of devastating airstrikes, Israeli forces send their ground forces to Gaza city, where thousands of Palestinians flee and escalate the region’s humanitarian crisis.
Israel has threatened ground attacks to seize what is known as Hamas’s hub within the city. Palestinians said the airstrikes were the most heavily fired artillery they faced in the two-year war, Reuters reported.
The September 16 attack followed the discovery of an independent UN Human Rights Commission that said Israel was committing genocide in Gaza in the war with Hamas. Israel rejected the report, saying Hamas had attempted genocide in Israel.

What is the level of damage to Gaza?
Since the Israeli military’s attack by Hamas on October 7, 2023, tens of thousands of Palestinians have been killed, and the Israeli military has levelled almost 60% of structures, including homes, schools, mosques and other buildings, Gaza City maintains the greatest damage.
