Israel aims to become an Iranian nuclear facility. Do we need help?

WASHINGTON – Israel is being trained to take Iran’s nuclear facilities as Israel and Iran’s trade is blown away by an escalating aviation war. And it calls for the help of the US military.

Israel wants to drop the bombs as it cannot reach the depth needed to destroy underground facilities.

Israel has been pushing the United States for many years without success to take part in an attack to decapitate Iran’s nuclear program. “The answer is no,” former President Joe Biden said last October when asked if he would be taking part.

However, after President Donald Trump claimed in a snowstorm of all caps’ true social posts that “Iran has no nuclear weapons,” US participation in the strike may be more close than ever.

Only US bombs can destroy Iran’s nuclear power plants

Military experts say there are multiple ways Israel can attack Iranian uranium-enriched plants – with or without US help

To completely destroy Iran’s nuclear facilities, you will need a massive 30,000-pound weapon intruder (MOP) bomb, or a “bunkerbuster” that the Israeli military doesn’t have. Iran’s Ford nuclear facility is at the heart of its uranium enrichment efforts, buried underground about 300 feet deep, unable to reach uninfiltrated bombs.

According to the Pentagon Documents, the giant weapon intruder (GBU-57) has a “high-performance steel alloy” warhead case that allows the weapon to remain intact as it digs deep into the ground.

It is equipped only with US-made B-2 fighter jets equipped to carry bombs. Each B-2 Spirit Stealth bomber based at Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri can hold two intruders.

In 2012, the Air Force conducted five tests of weapons at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. Data and visual inspections indicated that each bombing “effectively prosecuted the target.”

At the depths of Iran’s most protected underground nuclear facility, David David Depla, a retired aide who was the leading attack planner for Operation Desert Storm during the 1991 Gulf War, would not be enough to “impose serious damage” at the heart.

“It will bring about the ability that Israel doesn’t own,” Deptula said.

The US raised an eyebrow in April when it relocated several B-2 bombers to Diego Garcia, a US base on an island in the Indian Ocean about 2,300 miles from Iran.

Still, the long range of the B-2 means they can take part in missions with far-reaching targets. “We can carry out strikes from the US,” he said.

Israel could fire sites with many bombs

Given Israel’s success in degrading Iran’s air defense, the deployment of MOPs may not be necessary, said Scott Murray, a retired Air Force colonel and intelligence officer with experience identifying targets in the Middle East.

Instead, Israel could use small, pervasive weapons to collapse the entrance to Iran’s underground nuclear facilities, Murray said. Israel was able to effectively ban Iran from recovery efforts at the site.

“Think of it as a workless zone that’s patrol from above,” he said. “The advantage of the Air buys incredible capabilities and flexibility.”

After five days of heavy bombing, Israel is now managing Iran’s airspace and clearing the path of such operations. The US-made weapons were instrumental in achieving that control. This said the fact that Trump mentioned in the Truth Social Post on June 17th was “now in full and complete control of the Iranian skies.”

“Iran had good sky trackers and other defensive equipment, but there were a lot of them, but they didn’t compare to “things” made in America, pregnant or manufactured,” Trump wrote.

According to Deptula, Israeli forces first gained air superiority by sweeping out the area with F-35 fighters. They then deployed the F-15 and F-16 in a “follow-on attack.”

Deptula called it the “textbook repetition” of Operation Desert Storm in 1991. This was a US air campaign against the Iraqi forces led by Saddam Hussein, which is why Deptula wrote a plan of the attack.
