Is the stock market open on Christmas? See holiday schedule for 2025

After closing early on Christmas Eve, US stock markets will be closed on Thursday, December 25th for the Christmas holiday.

Both the Nasdaq Stock Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange will close at 1:00 p.m. Eastern time on Christmas Eve, according to their websites. U.S. bond markets will also close early on Dec. 24, with markets closing at 2 p.m. Eastern time and expected to remain closed on Christmas Day, according to the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association.

Stock and bond markets will reopen on Dec. 26, with business as usual on Wall Street expected for several days. The next scheduled stock market closure is Thursday, January 1, 2026, for the new year.

The bond market will also close early on New Year’s Eve, with the market closing at 2:00 pm ET on Wednesday, December 31st. The Nasdaq and New York Stock Exchange will close at regular hours on the same day.
