The little blue people, who first appeared in Belgian manga artist Peyo’s 1950s manga and became a staple of pop culture in the 1980s, returned to the big screen with the hybrid anime/live action adventure “Smurfs” (July 18). Corden’s character has a ballad about feeling like an outsider among his own Smurf brothers, but in the end he finds his own personality with the help of Smurfed and his friends. Overall, it’s not too smurfin’s tattered. terrible Smurf flick. The sound effect Smurf (Spencer X) is an absolute joy.
