Analysis of the weekend’s heated NFL divisional round battles
Chris Bumbaka and Prince Grimes take a look at the matchups and storylines from the NFL divisional playoff rounds.
If you’re an NFL fan who’s been on social media this week, you’ve probably seen images of actress Hailee Steinfeld celebrating a football game wearing a Denver Broncos jacket.
Is it a big deal? Probably not… if Steinfeld’s husband, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, the league’s reigning MVP, did not play against the Broncos on Saturday afternoon in the divisional round opener of the postseason.
Is it a big deal? Probably not… given that the photo of Steinfeld in Broncos gear is stamped on February 7, 2016, which coincidentally happened to be the day Denver most recently won Super Bowl 50, defeating the Carolina Panthers in five-time league MVP Peyton Manning’s final game. (If you look closely, you can see part of the Super Bowl 50 logo on the field behind Steinfeld. That game was played in Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara, Calif., home of the San Francisco 49ers, and coincidentally the site of next month’s Super Bowl 60. She also appears to be mocking the “Dab” celebration of former Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, the league’s MVP in 2015.)
CBS sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson, covering this weekend’s Bills-Broncos game, apparently asked Allen about a photo of his wife, whom he married last June.
“When I asked Josh about the photo, he said he didn’t know it was floating around. He laughed and said she was probably paid to be there and that he would never have taken it out of the house,” Wolfson wrote on her X account.
Allen and Steinfeld, who are also eyeing their first Lombardi Trophy, are expecting their first child this year. There’s no reason to upset a pregnant spouse, MVP.
