The reason for drinking among adults has hit record lows.
A new Gallup poll shows that few Americans drink alcohol, and now even moderate drinking is at health risk.
No brand – Lifestyle
The popular chain of East Coast breweries, almost three years ago, closed its doors forever.
“It is our joy to serve you, and we are deeply grateful for your support, friendship and loyalty over the years,” Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant announced in a social media post on Thursday, September 25th.
Notifications have also been posted outside some of the brewery locations, including locations on the Riverfront in Wilmington, Delaware.
“After many wonderful years in our community, this place has been closed along with 15 other locations,” the memo reads. “We sincerely hope to be back in the future. When we do so, we promise to welcome you with open arms.”
The business has 16 locations spread across South Carolina, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Georgia, according to Greenville News, part of the USA Today Network.
The sudden closure comes two weeks after the business closed its original Delaware location in Newark and two additional locations in Chestnut Hill, Pennsylvania and Voorhees, New Jersey.
What is Iron Hill Brewery?
Founded almost 29 years ago in Newark on Main Street by Mark Edelson, Kevin Finn and Kevin Davis, some of the companies have been sold to outside investors over the years. Nevertheless, founders Edelson, Finn and Davis were all remaining board members.
Iron Hill closure, employee alerted via email
The company is also filing for bankruptcy, according to an email sent to employees obtained by Delaware News Journal, a part of the USA Today network.
“Dear team, I hope this message will find you well. It’s heartfelt to announce that the closure of all our restaurant locations will soon be in effect,” the email reads. “The ongoing financial challenges have led the company to make the difficult decision to file for bankruptcy and, unfortunately, it will close its doors forever.”
On Thursday afternoon, September 25th, USA Today was unable to find an online bankruptcy filing related to the closure.
