Lynsi Snyder, president and owner of IN-N-Out, has spoken after social media users criticized her for comments about the chain’s California hometown.

Snyder, 43, issued a statement after making critical comments about the “Golden State” on July 22nd, then discussed his move to Tennessee.

“I’m extremely proud of where In-N-Out started,” writes Snyder. “Everyone who knows me knows how often I talk about our beginnings and how our customers here in California have taken us where we are today.”

The backlash began after Snyder, who has been in charge of the Burger Empire since 2010, filed a complaint in a recent interview about living and doing business in California.

“Like you said, there are a lot of great things in California, but raising a family is not easy here,” Snyder told Ally Beth Stucky, host of the “relationship” podcast. “It’s not easy to do business here.”

Snyder didn’t further explain why a “handful” of “a handful” employees, along with her and her family, headed to Franklin, Tennessee, but told Stucky, “it’s great to see an office there and growing up there.”

In-n-out heir Linci Snyder responds to criticism

In response to the online flack Snyder has received since the interview, she posted a three-minute In-N-Out theme montage on her social media account, in order to dispel misconceptions about the company’s expansion in Tennessee and show her love for her company’s hometown.

In the video, Snyder revealed:

  • “We have not moved our In-N-Out headquarters. In addition to our Baldwin Park office, we are helping to grow at our Eastern Territories office in Tennessee.”
  • “We haven’t left California or left our roots behind. Each of our places stays here.”
  • “When we move to Tennessee, our n-out peers offer a great opportunity to buy homes, raise families and become part of our expansion in another part of the US.”
  • “I have nothing to do with my love and gratitude for my California clients.”

Snyder said the move, in her narration, is part of a “healthy plan” for the company’s growth, offering “so many” opportunities for people to own homes in Tennessee and surrounding states.

“We have been expanding to new states since 1992 and continue to align with growth standards,” Snyder wrote. “Opening an office far from our roots is new and exciting. It brings incredible opportunities for the people we love and the customers we serve.”

Snyder also confirmed in an interview that In-N-Out Burger plans to close Irvine’s office by 2030.
