  • Buc-Ee’s, a Texas-based travel centre, met with city officials in Meridian, Idaho, to discuss a store that could open in June.
  • Buc-EE’s has not submitted an application to build a travel centre in Meridian, Idaho as of July 18th.

Buc-ee’s has investigated the possibility of expanding to Idaho in a move that would make it the most western location for a Texas-based travel center.

City officials from Meridian, Idaho met with representatives from Buc-EE on June 12 to discuss the possibility of opening a travel centre in the city, Curtis Calder, Meridia’s economic development manager, told USA Today. However, Buc-EE’s has not submitted any applications for the project.

Idaho Buc-EE’s plans are still hypothetical, but online Buc-EE fans are already hoping that the travel centre will hit the state. In a video of Heartfeld’s Tiktok posted on July 9, a woman is said to have Bucke expanding to Idaho, where she covers her mouth with disbelief.

Buc-Ee’s did not want to comment when contacted by USA Today on Friday, July 18th.

Buc-EE continues to expand its national footprint

Buc-EE is a travel centre known for its long line of gas pumps, large toilets and beaver-themed products, and was founded in Texas in 1982 by Arch “Beaver” Aplin III, according to Buc-EE’s website. Over the past 40 years, Aplin has led the openings of over 50 locations, beginning in Texas, stomping branches through the South and Midwest, and is now creeping up to the West.

The expansion into Idaho marks the westernmost location of the chain currently located in Barthowdo, Colorado.

Shoppers recently celebrated the grand opening of Virginia’s first Buc-EE location, which opened on Mount Crawford on June 30th. The location opened a day before another new store in Brunswick on the southeast coast of Georgia.

Other states with Buc-EE locations include Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, South Carolina and Tennessee.
