I hope this latest government closure will continue for quite some time. Part of that time would be a toxic denunciation game between Democrats and Republicans. Who do you blame? Please tell me below.

It’s official. The United States is shut down after Congressional members failed to reach an agreement to maintain federal operations.
The effects of shutdowns usually tend to vary widely. But we are not in the age of “typical” politics. President Donald Trump has already pledged to step up Republican efforts to reduce government through staff layoffs.
But today we want to ask readers of USA Today’s opinion questions about our fearless leaders answering and stumbling on themselves. Join our latest forums and ask for the opportunity to use your comments in your follow-up posts.
Who will you blame for the shutdown?
Why do you think the government was closed today?
Republicans who control the entire government will say they are responsible because Congressional Democrats have decided to take their positions to protect health care.
Democrats will probably say there is no way to deal with GOP.
What do you say? Please see the poll below or email forum@usatoday.com with the subject “Forum Government Closure.” Let’s start with a few questions:
- Are you worried about the government shutdown? Why or why?
- Which political party do you blame?
- Do you think our elected leaders will ultimately work together?
- If you’re a Republican, do you agree with how the GOP handled this?
- If you’re a Democrat, would you like your party leaders to vote to prevent the closure?
