Hormel Foods is recalling frozen cooked chicken products that may contain metal particles.
Hormel Foods Corporation announced on Saturday, Oct. 25, that approximately 4.9 million pounds of chicken meat will be recalled, according to a recall notice posted on the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) website. The chicken was distributed to HRI Commercial Food Service locations across the country from February through September.
The recall was announced after multiple food service customers reported metals found in frozen chicken breast and thigh products served at the facility, and the company determined that the metals originated on production conveyor belts.
“There are no known reports of injuries from ingesting this product,” the recall notice states.
Here’s what consumers need to know about the recall.

“This product is sold only to food service customers and is not available for purchase directly by consumers,” Hormel said in a news release.
