Resume Genius, a job-seeking website, has compiled a list of 10 high-paying jobs for introverts.
“None of these jobs are truly lonely, but they all focus on independence,” says Eva Chan, career expert at Resume Genius. “It does require some cooperation, but the work is quite structured.”
The best jobs for introverts tend to involve high stakes and high responsibility, but have relatively low demands on social skills and meeting abilities, according to Chan.
“You’re not valued for your sociability,” she said. “Basically, you’re judged on what you deliver.”
The jobs listed below pay competitive salaries and prove that “you don’t need a big personality to get a high salary,” Chan said.
Remote work is an obvious choice for introverts, and many of the jobs listed here can be performed remotely. However, remember that remote work opportunities come and go, and even remote workers will need to have meetings from time to time.
Here are 10 high-paying jobs for introverts.
software developer
The average annual salary for this position is $131,450, according to 2024 data from the Department of Labor. The top 10% of earners earn $211,450 a year. There are approximately 2 million job openings nationwide, and employment growth is steady.
“Their days include writing and testing new code, patiently searching for and fixing hard-to-find bugs, and collaborating with designers and engineers to ensure the final product works as intended,” Resume Genius reports.
This job is suitable for introverts because it requires long hours of independent work.
actuary
These employees utilize mathematics and statistics to assess risk, such as measuring the probability of an accident for an insurance policy.
The median annual salary is $125,770, with high earners receiving $206,430. Employment growth is healthy.
Resume Genius reports that this job is a good fit for introverts because “most of your time is spent alone working with complex data and numbers.”
data scientist
These employees analyze and manipulate data to generate insights for the company, such as uncovering trends, typically to improve products and improve performance.
The median annual salary is $112,590, with the top 10% earning $194,410. There are 245,900 data scientists nationwide and job growth is strong.
As a data scientist, “you get plenty of quiet time to focus on coding and problem solving,” Resume Genius reports.
Elevator/escalator installation and repair contractor
The average salary for this job is $106,580, with top earners making $149,250. And all you need is a high school diploma.
Most of the work is done “alone in a quiet space,” says Resume Genius, perfect for introverts.
financial analyst
According to CFA Institute, financial analysts “communicate investment strategies and make investment decisions” for their employers and business clients.
The median salary is $101,910, with top earners earning $180,550. There are 429,000 positions nationwide.
You get a lot of quiet time. Resume Genius reports that while presenting to leaders is “part of the job,” coming up with good ideas is “more important than speaking smoothly.”
UX designer
User experience designers work to make websites and apps fun and easy to use.
The median salary is $95,380, with top earners earning $192,180.
The job combines a lot of independent work with “short, scheduled team meetings,” making it a good environment for introverts, Resume Genius reports.
Power line installation and repair companies
Here’s another job you can get with a high school diploma. The median salary is $92,560, with top earners earning $126,610.
The job involves very little office drama and involves working alone on a telephone pole maintaining the electrical grid.
operations research analyst
Workers in this field of ambiguity function as advanced problem solvers. For example, calculate how to most efficiently schedule workers or calculate the best route for delivery trucks.
The median salary is $91,290, with high earners making less than $159,280. There are 112,100 job openings nationwide and employment growth is steady.

They design the products we use every day. The median salary is $79,450, with the top 10% of earners making $134,840.
It’s a great job for introverts because it focuses on independent work.

These workers understand why consumers buy their work. The median salary is $76,950, with top earners earning $144,610. There are 941,700 job openings nationwide.
It’s a good job for introverts because the emphasis is on submitting well-written reports. You don’t have to prove yourself at a meeting.
