Golden Globe Awards 2026: Where the stars sit
A behind-the-scenes look at the 2026 Golden Globes, including red carpet rollouts, Nikki Glazer, seating arrangements, and more.
Nikki Glazer criticizes CBS during her appearance on CBS at the Golden Globes.
During his opening monologue at Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards ceremony, the comedian attacked the newsroom of the same network CBS, where he was hosting the show. “And most editorial awards go to CBS News,” Glaser quipped. “Yes, it’s CBS News. America’s newest place to watch BS News.”
The comments come as CBS News has faced criticism over the past few months for some of its reporting decisions under new editor-in-chief Bari Weiss. Weiss, in particular, became embroiled in controversy in December after CBS canceled a “60 Minutes” segment about CECOT, El Salvador’s notorious prison, at the last minute.
At the time, CBS News said it was discontinuing the segment because it “determined that additional coverage was necessary” and that it would “broadcast it in a future broadcast.” This segment has not aired yet.
Sharyn Alfonsi, the correspondent who broke the “60 Minutes” story, reportedly wrote in an email to colleagues that the decision to eliminate the segment was “a political decision, not an editorial one,” according to the New York Times.
Tony Dokoupil has also received some backlash after recently becoming an anchor on the CBS Evening News, including in a segment praising Secretary of State Marco Rubio and his “impressive resume.”
Nikki Glazer slams Leonardo DiCaprio at Golden Globes
This wasn’t the only brutal rant in Glazer’s Golden Globes opening monologue. The comedian also slammed Leonardo DiCaprio and his tendency to date younger women.
“The most impressive thing[about your career]is that you were able to accomplish all of it before your girlfriend turned 30,” she said. “I mean, that’s insane.”
Glazer added, “Leo, I’m sorry for making a joke. It’s cheap. I was trying not to say it, but, well, we don’t know anything else about you.”
Elsewhere in his monologue, Glazer mockingly referred to Wicked: For Good, which received fewer Golden Globe nominations than expected, as “Wicked: For Money” and joked that it was too long.
“Two hours into the movie, I couldn’t believe there were 45 minutes left, and I just burst into tears,” she said.
Other highlights of the monologue included Glaser saying that Sean Penn is “transforming into a sexy leather handbag,” implying that the biggest star in the room is in Epstein’s file.
“I can’t believe the amount of star power in this room tonight,” she said. “It’s insane. There are so many A-listers, and A-listers are people who are on heavily edited lists.”
