George Clooney’s family now calls their farm in France home, prioritizing privacy and a more normal life for their children.
George Clooney responded to President Donald Trump’s support for his decision to leave the United States with his family and live in France..
“Ocean’s Eleven” actor Amal Clooney and his wife Amal Clooney recently became French citizens, along with their 8-year-old twins Alexander and Ella, according to government documents viewed by USA TODAY.
President Trump told Truth Social on Dec. 31: “Good news! George and Amal Clooney, the worst political prophets of all time, are now officially French citizens. France is sadly in the midst of a major crime problem due to its absolutely terrible handling of immigration, just as it was in the Sleepy Joe Biden era.” “Clooney has garnered more attention for his political conversation than for his few, completely mediocre films.”
President Trump added that Clooney was never a movie star, but rather “an ordinary guy who constantly complains about political norms. Let’s make America great again!”
“I completely agree with our current president. We have to make America great again, and we’re going to start in November,” Clooney said in a statement provided to USA TODAY and first shared by The Hollywood Reporter on January 1.
USA TODAY has reached out to the White House for comment.
The Oscar winner explained that he decided to move to France so that his children could grow up outside of Hollywood and live a normal life away from the public eye.
“We live on a farm in France,” he said in an Esquire profile in October. “I grew up on a farm for a good part of my life, so when I was a kid I hated the whole idea of a farm. But now, for them, it’s like not having an iPad. They have to have dinner with the adults and bring in the dishes. They have a much better life.”
She added, “I was worried about raising my kids in the culture of Los Angeles, Hollywood. I felt like my kids would never get a proper shake up in life. France is completely unconcerned about fame. I don’t want my kids to be walking around worrying about paparazzi. I don’t want them to be compared to somebody’s famous kids.”
George Clooney previously said he “doesn’t care” about President Trump’s comments
George Clooney is used to brushing off insults from presidents.
Appearing on CBS Morning on April 21, Clooney responded to Trump calling him a “second-rate movie star and failed political commentator” after a segment on 60 Minutes in which he talked about the importance of press freedom.
Clooney told CBS that he “doesn’t care” about President Trump’s comments about him. “I’ve known Donald Trump for a long time. My job is not to please the president of the United States. My job is to try to tell the truth whenever possible and every chance I get.”
He added, “I’m very aware of the idea that people won’t like it. There will be people who criticize it. Elon Musk has expressed his opinion from time to time. That’s their right to do that, and it’s my right to disagree.”
President Trump criticizes ’60 Minutes’ Clooney’s ‘puff joke’ on TrueSocial post from March 23rd. The president said Clooney “threw out” former President Joe Biden “like a dog” after he called on Democrats to replace him in the 2024 presidential election in a New York Times op-ed.
