What better way to count down the days until Christmas than with pickles?
Advent calendars are a popular way to enjoy the countdown to Christmas and enjoy some surprises along the way. While more traditional advent calendars might feature chocolate, wine, cookies, or ornaments, some brands are releasing bold calendars that either appeal to a niche audience (we’re looking at you, pickle fans) or are just plain silly, in an attempt to raise the bar.
This year, Burger King introduced the BK Advent Calendar. The 12-day calendar featured Cini Mini candles, Burger King fanny packs, retro-style magnets, and a JD the Dog stuffed animal. The calendar was released on November 21st and sold out almost immediately.
You may not be able to get your hands on a Burger King advent calendar this USA TODAY has rounded up some other unique, quirky, and bizarre advent calendars worth checking out this year.
red bull advent calendar pack
The Red Bull Advent Calendar Pack debuted in the US this holiday season. The advent calendar includes 24 8.4-ounce cans, including flavors such as Juneberry, Strawberry Apricot, Tropical Fruit, and the return of Pomegranate.
The Red Bull Advent Calendar will be available at Walmart, Costco, Target and select Circle K stores for $50 while supplies last.
Kraft Natural Cheese Holiday Advent Calendar
A must-see for cheese fans.
Kraft Natural Cheese (not the same as Kraft Heinz Company) will be releasing a limited quantity of Kraft Natural Cheese Holiday Advent Calendars in December. The 12-day calendar comes with parmesan cheese, socks, stickers, and a mug.
Cheesy Advent Calendars can only be obtained through gifts. Kraft Natural Cheese will be holding a giveaway while supplies last from December 10th to 13th at Chicago’s Christkindle Market. Fans can also message Kraft on Instagram (@kraft.naturalcheese) to learn more about how they can get a calendar as part of a virtual giveaway.
12 day pickles
Following the food trend, GiveThemBeer, a brand specializing in gift baskets, is offering a 12-day pickle advent calendar. The 12-day calendar includes pickle-flavored pretzels, jerky, nuts, popcorn, and even lip balm.
The 12-Day Pickle Advent Calendar is available on the GiveThemBeer website for $89. According to the GiveThemBeer website, it takes approximately 3-5 business days for your order to arrive.
Cowboy Creamery’s 24-Day Ice Cream Advent Calendar
Ohio-based Cowboy Creamery is offering a sweet surprise for 24 days in December.
Cowboy Creamery’s 24-Day Ice Cream Advent Calendar includes 24 different samples, including Blackberry Lemon Bars, Peanut Butter Cups, Strawberry Cheesecake, Banana Cream Pie, and Gingerbread Man. Advent calendars are available for nationwide shipping for $70. Ohioans can also pick up an advent calendar in-store for $40.

For those who love sensory toys, the NeeDoh Advent Calendar might be the perfect gift. The 24-day calendar includes NeeDoh mini squeeze toys in a variety of sizes, shapes, and colors, including snow globes, ice cubes, and fruit.
NeeDoh advent calendars are available at Walmart, Kohl’s, Amazon, and other retailers. Advent calendars retail for $20 to $30.

Hasbro has released the Furby Mini Advent Calendar. The 24-day calendar includes 9 Christmas-themed Furby minis, a keychain clip with 8 charms, and 6 holiday stickers.
The Furby Mini Advent Calendar is available at a variety of retailers including Amazon, Target, Walmart, Kohl’s, GameStop, Best Buy, J.C. Penney, and Macy’s. Calendars are $20.
Eight Innovation Electronic Game Advent Calendar
Eight Innovation has taken a completely new approach to advent calendars with the Electronic Games Advent Calendar. The 24-day calendar features a different electronic circuit board challenge for each day of December. Each door contains different electronic components that can be used to build different games, such as code crackers, wire mazes, and slot machines.
The Electronic Games Advent Calendar is $50 on Amazon and $20 on the Uncommon Goods website as of November 24th.

Nintendo has released a virtual advent calendar for Nintendo Switch.
Game Advent Calendar: 25 Days – 25 Surprises features a new winter-themed mini-game every day in December, many of which are available in multiplayer. For impatient players, you can also unlock all games on the same day.
The video game is available from the Nintendo Store and Steam for $15, and from Target and GameStop for $10.

In time for the holidays, Victoria’s Secret has released a 12-day Victoria Holiday Thong Panty Advent Calendar featuring 12 pairs of holiday-themed high-waisted underwear. The calendar is on sale for $55.65 on the Victoria’s Secret website as of November 24th.

If underwear isn’t intimate enough, Lovehoney has some advent calendars this year. That includes a $179 couples advent calendar. The 24-day calendar features a variety of sex toys and accessories. Lovehoney also offers two 12-day calendars for $129.
