Addison Berger’s grand slam not only led the Toronto Blue Jays to victory in Game 1 of the World Series, but also meant free breakfast at Denny’s.
Ahead of the Fall Classic, the diner chain promised members of its loyalty program Denny’s Rewards a complimentary Original Grand Slam breakfast if a player completes a Grand Slam during the series. On Friday night, October 24, in the sixth inning of Game 1, Berger hit what would become his first pinch-hit grand slam in the World Series.
That means free breakfast at Denny’s home. “This is our way of turning historic hits into unforgettable meals for the entire Denny’s Rewards family,” Ellie Doty, Denny’s chief brand officer, said in a news release about the partnership.
The Blue Jays won 11-4. Game 2 is Saturday night, October 25th at 8pm ET/5pm PT.
