
Car Recall: Why They Will and What Should You Know
Why does a car recall occur? Here’s what you need to know if your car has an open recall:
Last week, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued multiple recalls including notifications for around 600,000 Cadillac, GMC and Chevrolet vehicles.
Do you want to see if a recall was issued on your car? If the car is not listed below, the owner can either check the USA Today Automotive Recall database or search the NHTSA database to search for new recalls. The NHTSA website allows you to search for recalls based on the vehicle’s identification number (VIN).
Here’s what you need to know about vehicle recalls issued by NHTSA from April 28th to May 4th:
GM recalls multiple models of potential engine failures
General Motors recalls Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC vehicles equipped with a 6.2L V8 engine due to engine failure.
According to recall notifications, the connecting rod and/or crankshaft engine components of these vehicles may have manufacturing defects that can lead to engine damage and engine failure..
The vehicles that have been recalled include:
- 2021-2024 Cadillac Escalade
- 2021-2024 Cadillac Escalade ESV
- 2021-2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
- 2021-2024 Chevrolet Suburbs
- 2021-2024 Chevrolet Taho
- 2021-2024 GMC Sierra 1500
- 2021-2024 GMC Yukon
- 2021-2024 GMC Yukon XL
Drivers may notice some warning signs before an engine failure, such as knocks from the engine and banging sounds, check engine lights on, or other engine performance issues.
The dealer inspects the engine as needed and repairs or replaces the engine as needed. Vehicles that pass the inspection will be provided free of charge. The notification will be mailed on June 9th.

Ford and Lincolns recall the broken back camera
Ford Motor Company recalled certain Ford and Lincoln vehicles with potentially incorrect rearview cameras and displays.
The company recalled that the Ford Broncos may have a 360-degree view camera that “may not display the back image when the vehicle is positioned in reverse.” A group of vehicles in 2015 was drawn into another recall as there could be a failed terminal header connector on the “back camera printed circuit board.”
Vehicles subject to recall include:
- 2015 Ford Expedition
- 2015 Ford F-250
- 2015 Ford F-350
- 2015 Ford F-450
- 2015 LCCALN MKC
- 2015 Lincoln Navigator
- 2022 Ford Bronco
- 2023 Ford Bronco
The dealer will replace the camera for free and a letter of notification will be sent on May 5th.

Polestar recalls the Polestar 2S, a broken back view camera
Because Polestar may remember some of the 2021-2025 Polestar 2 vehicles and have a back-up camera image that doesn’t appear when placed in reverse of the vehicle.
The company said there was a synchronization error between the parking assist camera and the infotainment head unit, according to a recall report.
The dealer will update the vehicle software for free, and the notification letter will be mailed on June 19th.

Volkswagen reminds me of the 2025 ID. Buzz for lack of seat belts
Volkswagen reminded me of a particular 2025 ID. According to the NHTSA, there is a buzz vehicle as the three rows of rear benches are wide enough for three passengers, but it is designed for two passengers and has a third row rear bench equipped with two seat belts.
The dealer is to install the trim to adjust the width of the rear seats in the third row for free.
The notification will be sent on June 20th.
