Car Recall: Why They Will and What Should You Know
Why does a car recall occur? Here’s what you need to know if your car has an open recall:
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Ford Motor Company has recently affected more than 42,000 vehicles and more than 42,000 vehicles on issues that could increase the risk of fires and collisions.
The NHTSA lists the recalls reported to federal agencies on May 27 by the Dearborn, Michigan-based automaker.
The affected vehicles include a variety of SUV models, including some Broncos, F-150s, and Escapes.
The reasons behind the recall, the affected models, and relief provided by Ford are as follows:
Ford recalls some Nautilus cars
Ford recalls the 30,679 2024 Nautilus vehicle, the NHTSA said on May 27th.
According to federal agencies, multimedia module software in affected cars could cause panorama and center displays to restart, resulting in loss of vision from blank screens and subsequent speedometers and warning lights, increasing the risk of crashes. A missing rearview camera can reduce visibility of what’s behind the vehicle, which also increases the risk of crashes.
The software is updated by a dealer or broadcast over the air update, which is free.
The owner’s notification letter is scheduled to be mailed on June 16th.
The recall number is 25C21.
Ford recalls some F-150 vehicles
Ford equipped the 192 2022 F-150 lightning BEV vehicle with a vehicle with 20-inch or 22-inch all-season tires that were accidentally repaired under a recall 22V-453.
The tire pressure monitoring system does not illuminate the light and cannot warn the driver of low tire pressure, increasing the risk of crashes.
Dealers will update the vehicle’s software and fix the issue for free, the NHTSA said.
The owner’s notification letter is scheduled to be mailed on June 23rd.
Ford’s number for this recall is 25C20.
Four Ford SUV models are recalled due to fire risk
According to the NHTSA, Ford recalls 6,781 vehicles as the engine can overheat and fire when it parks with a block heater connected.
The vehicles affected by this recall are:
- 2024-2025 Lincoln Nautilus
- 2023-2025 Escape
- 2023 Lincoln Corsair
- The 2025 Lincoln Corsair, Maverick, and Bronco Sport vehicles feature a 1.5L or 2.0L MPC engine and engine block heater. NTHSB reported that if the car parks with the block heater connected, the engine block heater could overheat.
The dealer will replace the engine block heater elements and inspect the electrical cord for free or replace it if necessary.
The owner’s notification letter is scheduled to be mailed on June 6th.
Ford’s number for this recall is 25S52.
Ford recalls some new model transit, Explorer and F-150 vehicles
Ford recalls the 154 transit, F-150 and Explorer cars due to damaged engines that could lead to engine failure and crashes. The three models affected are 2025.
“The components of the connecting rod and rod bearings may have manufacturing defects that can lead to engine damage or engine failure,” NTHSB said.
According to NTHSB, the remedy is under development.
The owner notification letter is scheduled to be mailed on June 9th.
Ford’s number for this recall is 25S55.
Ford recalls three SUV models due to the possibility of engine failure
Ford can recall 1,797 SUV models due to the potential engine failure, which could increase the risk of fire and injury.
According to the NHTSB, if an engine fails, engine oil and fuel vapor can be released into the engine and accumulate near the source of ignition, including hot engine or exhaust components.
The vehicles affected by this recall are:
- 2020-2023 Escape
- 2021-2023 Corsair
- 2022-2023 Maverick.
The vehicle is equipped with a 2.5L HEV or PHEV engine that was accidentally repaired under the recall 23V380.
Owners are advised to park and shut down the engine as soon as possible if they hear unexpected engine noise, notice a reduced vehicle’s power or see smoke.
Dealers will update their PowerTrain Control Module software for free, NHTSB said.
Ford’s number for this recall is 25S54.
