Finish line near the Senate hours after debate over Trump’s tax bill

As the sun rose in Washington, the senator passed a 20-hour debate on President Donald Trump’s taxes, with the finish line still unknown, and spent the expenditure and policy bill.

The law includes provisions regarding Medicaid reform, increased border security funding, and tax restrictions on tips and overtime wages. The outcome of Congress is expected to be a decisive legislative victory for Trump or a major setback early in his second term.

Despite working all weekend, the senators continued to fight both inside and outside the Senate floor until the morning of June 30th and July 1st.

John Thune, the leader of R-South Dakota’s majority, said Capitol reporters were “close” to nailing the deal.

Thune works with a tight majority of 53-47 GOP in the upper chamber. Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul and North Carolina Tom Tillis are expected to vote against the bill’s debate in the first place, and reject the final passage as well.

With Democrats not expected to provide support, Thune can afford to lose another Republican vote, in which case Vice President JD Vance must enter the tie and break.

Still, the council is not finished yet.

If the Senate passes Trump’s mega bill, it will need to be settled in a home that passed the lowest margin in May.

The House of Representatives vote is scheduled tentatively for July 2nd, with Senate results pending.
