Social Security payments will be made on the regular schedule in February.
Social Security benefits, which are paid primarily to elderly or retired beneficiaries, are typically paid on Wednesdays. According to the Social Security Administration’s calendar, payments are made on the second Wednesday of each month to beneficiaries whose birthday falls between the 1st and 10th of the month (this month, it’s February 11th).
People born between the 11th and 20th will be paid on the third Wednesday of each month (February 18th). According to the SSA calendar, those born on or after the 20th of the month are paid on the fourth Wednesday of each month (February 25th). Social Security recipients who began receiving benefits before May 1997 will receive payments on January 3.
Social Security payments should increase slightly thanks to the 2.8% cost of living adjustment (COLA) increase that took effect in January. Payments are expected to increase by about $56 a month on average, according to the Social Security Administration.
