The FBI is leading the investigation into a hunting platform discovered near Palm Beach International Airport that had direct view of where President Donald Trump would disembark from Air Force One, authorities said.

In an Oct. 19 statement on X, FBI Director Kash Patel said U.S. Secret Service agents “discovered a suspicious stand near the AF1 zone in Palm Beach.”

The stand was discovered on Friday, October 17, hours before President Trump arrived at the airport to attend an elite fundraiser at his Mar-a-Lago mansion.

Patel told Fox News that Hunting Platform is not associated with any individual. The department added that it has sent personnel to collect evidence from the scene and plans to analyze local cell phone data.

The discovery of the hunting platform comes about a month after Ryan Routh was convicted of trying to assassinate President Trump in September 2024 at the president’s golf course in West Palm Beach, near the airport.

In July 2024, former President Trump was leading a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania when a gunman opened fire from a nearby rooftop, wounding him in his right ear. One Trump supporter was killed and two others were injured. Secret Service agents killed the attacker, Thomas Crooks, 20.
